The Story Behind the Name

Have any of you wondered why my shop and blog name is FavMoonGirl? Well, you have come to the right place to find out!

About 5 years ago, I needed to create an Etsy account separate from the family shop, so that I could communicate with another seller for a custom gift without ruining the surprise. I used my default username FavMoonGirl to sign up and didn’t give it a second thought.

Until I decided to open up my own shop on Etsy, that is. I wanted a place to sell my fake piercings and small flower dolls so they would not get lost in our main shop and since I already had an account, I went with it! So, FavMoonGirl Creations I became.

But why was FavMoonGirl my default username in the first place you ask? All because of a book.

Now, that in itself is not surprising, I am a total bookworm and more often than not can be found nose deep in this story or that. The book that inspired at least 3 years of usernames was “Stargirl” by Jerry Spinelli.

This book struck a particular chord with me, as I found a lot of common traits between myself and the main character, Stargirl. The fun, different clothing, the being homeschooled, the Happy Wagon(had a Happy Basket for a while)

I loved this story and it still ranks as one of my top 10 favorite books of all time. Little wonder that I decided that if she was Stargirl, then I as a similar sort of person could be Moongirl and that would be the perfect username! 14-year-old logic, right?

Unfortunately, Moongirl was usually already taken when I went to sign up for things, so I decided to add “fav” as a homage to “Stargirl” being my FAVorite book.

Hence, FavMoonGirl.

I have always been something of a free spirit and cherish the ability to be able to do my own thing and not be like every one else. I simply love to be unique!

Now I proudly create unique and fun jewelry to help accentuate the shiny awesomeness inside of everyone 🙂
